Bill Ringler

Treasurer

Bill Ringler served in Liberia as a member of the Liberia III contingent from 1963 until 1965. He spent his first year as a teacher in the Catholic mission school in Cape Palmas instructing a variety of courses from the junior high grades through college level. His second year was spent in Grandcess teaching in the pubic junior high through high school grades. While in Cape Palmas, Bill published the town newspaper and played trumpet in the Liberian National Military band. He administered the CARE food programs during his stay in Grandcess. Both locations were located on the ocean which provided a great breeze and swimming most every day.

Bill retired from the banking industry after serving multiple Southeast banks in the information systems and operations areas. He received his BS degree in Mathematics from Waynesburg University and an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

He now serves as a volunteer for the local Red Cross, Treasurer for SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) associated with the Small Business Administration, is a member of The Gideons International, and is a Notary Public for the State of Florida. Bill was the first Treasurer when the Friends of Liberia was founded in Washington, DC.

Bill and his wife, Evelyn, have a family of four daughters, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They have recently moved to Vero Beach, Florida after having spent a number of years in Birmingham, Alabama; they both grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
