Dr. Raj Panjabi has been appointed by President Joe Biden as his Malaria Coordinator to lead the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative.
Dr. Panjabi grew up in Liberia, fleeing when he was 9 years old to escape the LIberian civil war. He returned to Liberia in 2007 as a medical student and co-founded Last Mile Health, a nonprofit that works to provide health care to the world’s most rural communities.
 
Last Mile Health has collaborated with the Ministry of Health in Liberia to design and scale the National Community Health Assistant Program which extends primary healthcare to 1.2 million people living in Liberia’ rural communities.
