While overseas staff and volunteers remain on the job, approximately half of the agency’s workforce is furloughed. This includes activities and staff “not reasonably necessary for the safety of human life or the protection of property.”
The US Peace Corps has identified the following departments on furlough:
- the Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection,
- the Office of External Affairs,
- the Office of Strategic Information, Research and Planning,
- the Office of Overseas Programming and Training Support,
- he Executive Secretariat,
- the Office of Strategic Partnerships,
- the Office of Innovation,
- the Office of Third Goal and Returned Volunteer Services,
- the Chief Compliance Officer and
- the Office of Civil Rights and Diversity.
