Faculty and Clinician Workshops – January 2021

The Liberia Health Team made the decision to conduct two Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops in January 2021. The second Faculty CPD was conducted to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of nursing and midwifery faculty in evidence-based instruction. The workshop participants were faculty from the 17 schools of nursing and midwifery and a member of the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery.

The pilot Clinician CPD workshop was conducted to enhance the clinical competencies of practicing nurses and midwives. The participants for the Clinical CPD workshop were hospital Nursing and Maternal Child Health Nursing Supervisors and a member of the Liberia Nursing and Midwifery Association.  These participants will be able to share the content learned from the workshop with their hospital staff and ensure implementation of the educational materials.

The topics for each workshop were determined by the faculty and clinician needs assessments conducted in the fall.

Members of the FOL LHT met in 2020 at Phebe Hospital, Bong County to finalize the planning of the second Faculty CPD Workshop and the pilot Clinician CPD Workshop.
