John Langlois
Chair of the Communications Committee
John considers Liberia his second home—and rightly so. He has spent a total of eight years living there: from 1985 to 1987 as a Peace Corps Volunteer; from 1993 to 1995 as a UN Volunteer epidemiologist; then as Office Director of The Carter Center from 1995 to 1997; and finally, as Country Director for Search for Common Ground from 1997 to 1999. In addition, John made work-related trips to Liberia in 2003 and 2004 to support USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives, and again in 2014 during USAID’s Ebola crisis response. He holds a master’s degree in international development from American University and has completed two years of coursework toward a Ph.D. in International Health at Tulane University.
