Friends of Liberia and Friends of Tonga hosted author Susan E. Greisen, who wrote a memoir of her time in Peace Corps Liberia and Peace Corps Tonga. In case you missed it, we recorded the event below!

In Search of Pink Flamingos is the story of Susan E. Greisen, who left her rural farm in Nebraska in 1971 to join Peace Corps Liberia.
“With a suitcase full of farm-smarts and a license to be a practical nurse, I tackle the challenges of high mortality, witchcraft, and the plight of Liberian women. I fall short of my unrealistic goals, nearly die of a tropical disease, and I discover my devoted village family and their culture are catalysts for my personal healing,” Susan wrote on her website

Susan is a wonderful and honest story teller, who doesn’t shy away from the “hard stuff” as she calls it. Whether or not you have a connection to Liberia, Tonga, or the Peace Corps, you will enjoy reading about Susan’s quest for forgiveness and unconditional love.
